Met Gala 2019 (PICS) : What we loved & hated!

The Met Gala - The Best and Worst

The Theme - First let's talk about the theme which confused the world. The theme was "Camp: Notes on Fashion" which defined as over-the-top fashion that can be ironic, unnatural, and exaggerated. This is a definition I put together myself based on some research but I believe I hit the nail on the head so keep that in mind while you review these looks. Also, I am not saying that people don't look good but if they are not on theme obviously they can't be best dressed. Halloween rules are in full effect okay!

Gaga Looks AMAZING I loved the performance of it all! She had her crew and the umbrellas and changed 3 times! We went from pink to black to pink to black and ultimately in her nighties. It was so Gaga, so fearless, and I Loved every moment! What about you?

Celine Dion

Celine's outfit was just beautiful. The headpiece was amazing. She had some skin out and was just living her best iconic life. I think that it was on theme due to the headpiece and exaggerated fringe so she hits my top 5 but definitely not top 3.

Hailee Steinfeld

This fit is not all that but it's so CAMPY that it has to get at least an honorable mention. The whole outfit is so ironic, wrong, and extra that it's clear that she stuck to theme and herself and her stylist did an amazing job staying true to that. I do think the Met Gala is normally more glam but they asked for CAMP and she gave it, so win for her!

Cardi B

Cardi looked amazing! Her dressed required close to ten assistants to help her walk, pose, and go up the stairs. The look has been compared to a menstrual cycle and I get it but it was still really Campy with the feathers and the jewels and the nipples! Honestly "Go Cardi". I appreciate how she continues to try to outdo herself! She definitely gets Top 3

Gisele Bundchen

Gisele Gisele Gisele although she looks stunning the dress is something you could wear to church, a wedding, I don't know, Christian prom maybe, either way, this dress is in no way "Camp" it's more like I'm not sure. Brunch? I put this in the bottom for lack of effort. "shrug"

Zendaya

Zendaya looks beautiful as always and she definitely put on a show with her Cinderella and Fairy Godfather vibes. As much as I love to look at her I felt that this outfit was more Disney and less Campy. It seemed more catered for the Disney Choice Awards than the Met Gala. Unfortunately, I put her in the bottom list as well.

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita's look was very unique and I must admit I didn't understand it at first but the more I look at it. It grew on me. The whole look was exaggerated and definitely like a fashion faux pas but the way it was put together and she wore it I can definitely give her Top 4.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki disappointed me this year. I'm not sure what was up with her or what the thought process was behind this outfit but we know her to look much better. I feel like the dress was not fitted properly and just said teenage prom dress or sweet 16. Sorry babe, better luck next year.

Janelle Monae

Janelle is definitely in my top two! The artsiness of this dress is breathtaking. My favorite part is as she walked the eyelash moved so it looked like a wink. This whole look is just over the top, I am art, put me on the wall and stare at me loveliness. Kudos to the designer Christian he did amazing.

Lala's outfit is in my top because I honestly adore some couture urban fashion and this is it!
All about the money and extra about it, sign me up! I know this is an unpopular opinion but, it's mine. Sorry not sorry.

Billy Porter

Came to Slayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! From the show to the wings it was just beautiful. It was the most extra outfit next to Lady Gaga. I was breath taken when he opened those wings! The photographers were saying we're ready and I was I barely prepared! Billy did that. I can't wait to see what he has in store next.

Kerri Washington

Disappointed in this outfit, her weight, the simplicity, the forever 21 tank. It all sort of let me down. Her makeup is also pretty bad. I am hoping she is preparing for an amazing role and that explains why she looks so washed out and malnourished

Katy Perry

This to me is an example of misunderstanding the theme. The outfits were okay but the theme wasn't food and fixtures so to the bottom you go Ms. Perry. Oh well.

Kim Kardashian and Jenner's

These sisters look sexy and amazing as always. The Jenners are giving us Las Vegas showgirl vibes with the feathers and colors while Kim is giving us wet Jlo singing in the rain, where is my wait S-E-X. I love that they can always slay a look but I felt like they could have worn these anywhere and they really weren't that extra. My favorite thing between all of them is Kylie's sleeves.

Final Thoughts

This year's Met Gala was underwhelming. I am hoping that next year they will pick a theme that is less confusing and more exciting for the celebrities attending so we can really see some Iconic looks. In the end, at least we all still have something to talk about. What do you think of the Met Gala looks? What was your favorite and least favorite? Post a picture below of what you liked and didn't like let's keep the discussion going!
